Incitis continues its development with the support of EIT InnoEnergy

To face the challenges of urban delivery* and the development of LEZ (low emission zones), the Incitis teams are developing an innovative and unique delivery vehicle making it possible to drastically reduce the time and cost of deliveries, to improve safety for delivery drivers and to support carriers in their energy transition.

A prototype of this vehicle is currently being developed.

Convinced by the added value of this solution, EIT InnoEnergy chose to support Incitis in this project.

Lyon, October 3, 2023

Incitis is pleased to announce the participation and support of EIT InnoEnergy in its project to develop a 19-ton urban delivery truck, with an innovative hydraulic system allowing deliveries at ground level. Deliveries are carried out in complete safety for drivers and other road users. Both Fast and optimised, they are also quiet and without CO2 emissions because of the reliance on electromobility.

With its new features and its 8 tonnes of payload (the equivalent of 6 to 7 light commercial vehicles), the delivery platform developed by Incitis makes it possible to consolidate and accelerate delivery and contributes to the decluttering of urban spaces by reducing the number of vehicles necessary to carry out the tours. It is the ideal vehicle for mass transport between warehouses on the outskirts of cities and city centres or peri-urban areas. Tests carried out in real conditions have confirmed a time saving of 30% on a tour (on average) compared to conventional trucks of identical size, i.e. a saving of 1 vehicle in 3! No more need for subsidies: “zero-emission” transport costs the same as standard diesel vehicles.

Furthermore, Incitis has chosen electromobility. The platform is designed for PIEK certification, for silent and emission-free deliveries in city centres. The choice of battery technology combined with a choice of range extenders (hydrogen or biogas/biodiesel) makes it possible to optimise the payload and extend the range up to 400 km for greater touring versatility. Thanks to the saving of 1 in 3 vehicles on a tour, Incitis offers a clean solution with a total cost of ownership equivalent to diesel.

" With the Incitis teams, we are delighted to welcome EIT InnoEnergy, with whom we share the same values about decarbonisation and improving the quality of life in urban areas, for a more sustainable society. To date, all indicators are green, starting with the carriers who have already placed their trust in us through letters of intent and pre-orders, ” said Éric Poyeton, founder of Incitis and Chairman of the Board

We are proud to support Incitis and assist them in their industrial development. This participation is part of our logic of decarbonisation of transport and last mile delivery. Incitis' value proposition will make it possible to respond to the challenges of security, reduction of pollution and decongestion of cities,” added Jonas Fabre, Investment Asset Manager, EIT InnoEnergy

Investing in Incitis means participating in a human adventure that aims to transform global urban delivery to make cities more welcoming, sustainable and resilient for present and future generations. It means contributing to unprecedented and ambitious innovation with a pragmatic and solid approach. It means participating in a global project created by experienced industrialists.

Incitis was founded by eight shareholders, experts in heavy goods vehicles, business and finance, and is supported by a network of recognised partners, such as EIT InnoEnergy, the PFA (Automotive Industry Platform) and CEA-LITEN, but also other leading technical partners. The project is certified by the CARA Competitiveness Cluster, French Tech and the Deeptech Plan (BPI).

The Incitis solution

Declutter urban space

With its new features and its 8 tonnes of payload (the equivalent of 6 to 7 light commercial vehicles), the 19-ton delivery truck developed by Incitis makes it possible to massify and accelerate delivery and contributes to the decluttering of urban spaces by reducing the number of vehicles needed to carry out the tours. Tests carried out in real conditions have confirmed a time saving of 30% on a tour (on average) compared to conventional trucks of identical size, i.e. a saving of 1 vehicle in 3!

Thanks to its 5 access points on 3 sides, the goods, which can be refrigerated, are very easily accessible, regardless of the parking conditions in the delivery area. These access points contribute to smoother and faster delivery.

The tour can be instantly reorganised according to traffic and/or customer urgency and with greater flexibility. Deliveries and the vehicle (access points etc) can be managed very simply by tablet, which makes the daily work of the delivery driver much easier.

Improving the safety and working conditions of delivery drivers

With the push of a button, the truck’s hydraulic system allows deliveries at ground level (no more tailgate needed!). The delivery driver can thus take out the goods more quickly and in complete safety for him and other road users.

The low cab further improves the ergonomics of this delivery truck during multiple ascents/descents during tours and allows better visibility of other road users.

Make the city more sustainable

Incitis has chosen electromobility. The vehicle is designed for PIEK certification, for silent and emission-free deliveries in city centres. The choice of battery technology together with a choice of range extenders (hydrogen or biogas/biodiesel) makes it possible to optimise the payload and extend the range up to 400 km for greater touring versatility.

* The challenges of urban delivery:

  • 66% of the world's population will live in urban areas by 2050 (UN Report).
  • 5 million tonnes of goods travel 20 km every day in a city like Paris (“The future of Road Freight Transport” 2018).
  • Urban areas are deploying LEZ (low emission zones) and gradually banning the most polluting vehicles.
  • Europe imposes to reduce CO2 d’au moins 55 % en 2030 (par rapport à 1990) et d’atteindre la neutralité carbone à l’horizon 2050 (loi européenne sur le climat / Fit for 55).
  • The space dedicated to road transport in cities is shrinking, the delivery areas are insufficient and not very usable and the delivery conditions generate safety risks for the deliverers and those who are nearby.
